Puncuality or not

Today, the LG was invited for a birthday party at 'sharp' 6. Not only did the invite say sharp 6, but the hosts called us up and told us that events had been arranged and that kids had to be there at 6. So, despite every instinct telling me that I shouldn't be going in at exactly 6, I walked in to drop LG. I had expected at least the host to be there at that time. However, there was nobody but the staff at the venue. We waited for 10 minutes and then I brought the LG back home. Luckily, the venue is just across the road from where I live.
After coming home, at the LG's insistence, we waited near the lift lobby, watching to see if anybody was going to the party. A good amount of time later, the host family walked by. I took LG back there 10 minutes after the host family had gone in and found that the birthday kid had still not reached the venue.....she was getting dressed.
What do you think?
Isn't it important, for at least the hosts to turn up on time for a party they are throwing?

That is plain rude. If the guests are late, it is ok. But the host not showing up on time? it is just Rude Rude Rude.

That's exactly what I think, too....and I also feel it is important for the guests to be on time.
